pullin' my hair out

The dreaded potty training has begun. I need tips, hints, ideas, prayers, etc to make it through this event. So far...not so good. Only ONE potty in the toilet and she's done with the whole thing already. HELP

K so I know I have not had a child at that stage, but with being a mom and doing hair...women are always talking! I had a client tell me about this movie called "Once Upon A Potty" It is available in a girl and boy version. It supposedly teaches them all about their body parts and what they do! She told me that when her kids are 18 months she has them start watching it. Then when they are waking up in the morning with dry diapers she makes sure she has 3 days of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING so she can STAY AT HOME! She goes and buys a TON of toys(and she said not just dinky ones, GOOD ONES, things that they are really in to. She said she spends a fortune, but its worth it) She takes them to the potty every hour or two and STAYS THERE UNTIL THEY GO(as long as it takes) and when they finally go SHE THROWS A FREAKIN PARTY and makes a huge deal out of it! She has 6 kids and it has worked for every last one of them!:) She said 3 days and they are going reguarly and a week they are completely potty trained. She also buys the book and reads it to them while they are on the toilet! I know barnes and noble has the book in the store and the movie on line! Kalli just bought it for Presli and i'm really excited to see how it goes! Good Luck hopefully the advice I have been given will help you!:) Call me if you have any questions about it!

I want to know how it goes. I am preparing myself to start Hannah.

Ali lost motivation really fast when we tried about a month ago. She went on the potty 2 times at Grandma Shanna's house, and once at home, and then decided it was easier to go in the diaper I guess! It does make it a little tricky when she is always with grandma or a different parent. My sister in law had a jar of candy that she kept in the bathroom, and when Ella used the potty, she got a piece of candy, and Jo praised her, and that seemed to work well for her, so I might try that....

I would just say to wait until SHE is ready! Go ahead and try and then if she is having too many accidents wait a couple of weeks and try again. It is so much less stressful for you and her. And it will only take one day!
